town meeting(12/8)

The topic of this discussion was trash. The town tries to separate trash into many categories, but some people don't want to do that.
There were five panelists: Kazutaro, Starkey, Yutaro, Kozue, and Aiko. Kazutaro works at trash company, and agree with the opinion which should separate trash. He insisted that people who doesn't separate them should pay some money. Starkey is a professor of environmental studies in Kyoto, and according to Starkey, plastic make dioxin which is bad for environment if they are burn with other kinds of trash. Yutaro is an university student and lives alone. He doesn't want to separate trash because it is a pain for him, and a bag for trash is too expensive for him that he doesn't want to buy it. Kozue is a housewife and have children, and 35 years old. She disagree to separate trash because there are too many trash in her house and she can't separate all of them and doesn't know well how to separate them. Akio is a top of Mdnald, and he disagree with the opinion. His company have so many rubbish every day, and there are no spaces to keep separated trash. He insists that the amount of trash is very different from house, so he didn't want the company of trash to think his company as the target for separating system. After break time, a panelist suggested that make some size for a trash bag. Making small, middle, and big size, and people who don't have so much trash like Yutaro can buy the small size cheaper. Everyone attending the meeting agree with this opinion. Another panelist suggested to make a calender for the people who don't know the way of separate and the day of which kind of trash are corrected. The outcome of this discussion is to gather trash every day only for company like Akio's, and present trash box for citizen if they separate trash correctly.
In my opinion, people should separate trash for environment. In this discussion, they separate trash into only 5 types. I think it is too few and it is easy to separate into only 5 types!
This discussion was nice, but some people talked too much, and some are not. If all of the members say their own opinion, their discussion gets better, I think.

blog report(1/12)

The topic of this discussion was about lowering voting age. Many 20-year-old people scream and drink, and have a bad attitude at a coming-of-age ceremony. It seems that they don't have a responsibility for adults. To give them responsibilities as adults, people live in the town decided to give a right to vote from 16-year-old people. But some people don't agree with this opinion.
There were five panelists: Ryuzi, Koyama, Takashi, Mio, and Chikako. Ryuzi is 20 years old, and works as a fire fighter. He agree with the opinion and he thinks if students have a right to vote, they will think about politics and society more. Mr. Koyama is the mayor of the city, and he also agree to give 16-year-old people a right to vote. Because if they have a right to vote, they have a responsibility for being adults. Takashi is a high school teacher, and agree with the opinion. He suggests that young foreigners have clear opinion and interests for politics, so Japanese young people should learn from them. Mio is 16 years old and a high school teacher. She disagree with the opinion because she doesn't understand about politics. She thinks 16 years old is too young to decide the good person for politics. Moreover, she suggests that 18 years old is much better than 16 years old because they have knowledge more than 16-years-old people. Chikako is an university student, and 20 years old now. She doesn't go to a selection because she doesn't know about the situation of politics even she is 20 years old, so she thinks 16-years-old people also don't know it. After break time, a panelist suggested that having a right to vote have nothing to do with the bad attitude of new adults. The mayor answered that he wanted them to have a consciousness as adults, so giving a right to vote is effective. The outcome of this discussion is to give a right to vote for 18-year-old people after three years, and the mayor will make a manifest more easily for them.
In my opinion, having a right to vote is nothing to do with the bad attitude or low consciousness as adults of new adults. I think there is another way to solve this problem.
This discussion was difficult to lead a convincing answer because of the topic. I couldn't understand the importance of this discussion. Moreover, their voice is too small to listen.

Blog report

The topic was whether the elementary school students, junior high school students and high school students can have their cellphone in the school or not.
There five panelists; Shino(real name;sorry I couldn't listen her name) is a doctor, and she didn't agree with the opinion that the students can have their mobile phone in the school. Bob is a high school teacher, and he also didn't agree with that opinion. Aiko is a student and she also didn't agree with that opinion. Akiko is a housewife and she has two daughters. She allow them to have thier cellphones because she is worried about thier safety. That's why she agreed to allowance to have thire cellphone. Yukino is a high school student. She didn't have it when she was young. Now she thinks it is important to have it.
At first, Bob said it is no problem to bring the cellphone to the school, but using it during a class is bad. I thought tho opinion was reasonable. Moreover Yukino said that she was shy in front of her friends, so her parents gave it to her. Cellphone made her have confidence to communicate with her friends more. That's why she insisted that it is good for students to have thier cellphone. Then, Shino said to Yukino that Yukino relies on her cellphone too much. That's not so good. And Yukino answered against Shino's opinion that she talks with her friends not only on cellphone or email but directly, so cellphone is just means of becoming friends and contact with them. I thought Shono's pinion was not important at this discussion, so Yukino's opinio was reasonable, I thought.
Next, the focus on doscussuon changed to its safety. Agreed opinion was it is convenient to contact with their children because 60 percent of students go to Juku. And if we give it for our children, we should add the function not to access the bad-influenced information. I thought this is good opinion.
Consensus was that student who can have thier cellphone in the school is only high school. And teachers have to teach to their student about how to use it correctly. If elementaly school and junior high school students want to have their cellphone for their safety, that can be allowed.

There were 5 panelists; Kazuko, Yuta, Michiko, Manabu,Takao. Kazuko is agree with the pinion that the junior high school introduce extra excise class. Yuta is a junior high school student, and he aalso agree with the opinion. Michiko is a junior high school student, and she also agree with the opinion. Manabu is a person who works at Bennese Co. He doesn't agree with the opinion. Takao is a Math teacher, and he also doesn't agree with the opinion.
At first, Kazoko said the situation of the junior high school. The physical power lank of the junior high school is the lowest in Japan. She thought The students have less opportunity to do club activity. On the other hand, Manabu said that he didn't want to mark low scholarship ability. Also, Takao said if the system introduce, the students will get tired, and their scholarship ability would get lower. Then Kazuko said in fact, to be stronger their physical makes their scholarship become better. What is important is the balance of the physical and scholarship.Manabu insists that there are some people who hate sports. Takao thinks it is hard for people who live far from the junior high school. And it is dangerous for students to leave their house very early. But Yuta said it is good opportunity to make friends.
I like this idea. But thought leaving their house too early is dangerous for the students.
Then, Yuta said they should set rule to safe children. For example, when they go to school, they don't walk alone.
The consensus was that the school will introduce extra excise twice a week. Moreover they set the time to break before the class beginning. I thought that was nice idea.
